Who we are

This website, hart-edu.com, is operated by Hart Education Consultancy, founded by Anna Hart and John Hart, based in Finland. This policy covers this marketing website only — it does not cover our products, PHAT and Lex Phonics, which have their own separate handling of data (see the note at the end of this policy).

What we collect, and why

Analytics. If you accept our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this site — which pages are viewed, roughly how long for, what device and browser you're using, and an approximate location based on your IP address. This helps us understand what's working and improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this. If you decline, none of this runs, and no analytics cookies are set.

Email contact. The "Contact" and "Get in touch" links on this site open your own email client, addressed to us. Anything you choose to send us that way is received and stored in our email inbox like any other email, for as long as is reasonably needed to respond to you and keep a record of the correspondence. We don't collect or store this through the website itself — it's a normal email, sent by you, through your own email provider.

We do not use any other tracking, advertising, or third-party cookies on this site.

Cookies

The only cookies this site can set are from Google Analytics, and only after you accept the cookie banner. You can change your decision at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any page.

Legal basis

Where GDPR applies, our legal basis for analytics cookies is your consent, given via the cookie banner. Our legal basis for handling anything you email us is our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry, or the steps needed to enter into a contract with you if you're enquiring about our services.

Who we share data with

Analytics data (if you've consented) is processed by Google, as the provider of Google Analytics. Google may process this data outside the EU/EEA, under its own standard contractual safeguards — see Google's Privacy Policy for details. This site is hosted by Netlify, and its domain and email routing are managed through Cloudflare — both may incidentally process technical data (like your IP address) as part of simply serving you this page or routing an email, in the ordinary course of running a website. We do not sell or share your data for advertising purposes, and we never have.

How long we keep data

Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's own retention settings for this property, currently 14 months, after which it's automatically deleted. Emails you send us are kept for as long as reasonably needed to handle your enquiry and maintain a record of it, and are deleted on request (see below).

Your rights

If GDPR or a similar law applies to you, you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask for a copy of it. To exercise any of these, email us at contact@hart-edu.com.

Children's privacy on this website

This website itself is a marketing site aimed at educators and school leaders, not children, and we don't knowingly collect data from children through it.

PHAT and Lex Phonics

PHAT and PHAT-activity are separate applications, used directly by teachers and children in a classroom setting, and are not covered by this policy. Data handling for those tools — including anything involving children's data — is addressed separately. If you have questions about data handling within PHAT specifically, contact us at contact@hart-edu.com.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
